SASO Introduces (Saber) Platform through Al-Ahsa'a Chamber​​


       The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), in collaboration with the Al-Ahsa'a Chamber recently organized a workshop under the title "Saber Platform" at the Sheikh Sulaiman Al-Hammad Hall, in the Chamber's headquarters.

          In a speech he delivered, Mr. Abdul Latif bin Mohammad Al-Arfaj, Chairman of the Chamber, stressed on SASO's efforts and initiatives to strengthen partnership with the private sector and support governance of the digital transformation, in order to support the growth of traders and investors and empower local importers and manufacturers. He pointed out to the importance of continuing such efforts as to maintain consumer's health and safety, as well as develop and update Saudi standards and technical regulations on an ongoing basis to protect national markets from fake, poor and counterfeit commodities and support national economy.

          For his part, Eng. Sultan Abu Khashim, Consultant of SASO's Governor, said that Saber platform aims at protecting commercial establishments from fraud cases and ensuring that products are free of defects that may affect consumer's health, safety, or environment. He indicated that Saber was developed under direct supervision of SASO with Thiqah of business services to operate and develop according to the highest standards of efficiency in terms of speed of completing registration, as well as reduce the time taken to obtain required certificates. He pointed out to Saber's role in speeding up the time required to offer products, facilitate obtaining certificates of conformity for consumer commodities, whether imported or manufactured locally, to inter the Saudi market, as well as protect consumers from buying counterfeit products. He pointed out that Saber is flexible and expandable, and ensures the safety of products, and stresses on the importance to ban unsafe products in the market.
          At the end of the workshop, comments, questions and inquiries were put forward and various suggestions were made regarding the organization of the relationship among the business sector, SASO and relevant conformity, monitoring and surveillance bodies.     ​
