SASO gathered, on Tuesday, Rabi' Al-Thani 09, 1437 AH, corresponding to January 19, 2016, suppliers and manufacturers of electrical appliances in a workshop, organized by SASO in collaboration with the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC), to introduce Saudi standard specifications for electrical machines, in addition to mechanisms and procedures related to the registration system for these machines.

SASO clarified that the mandatory implementation of the registration system will come into force starting from Rabi' Al Thani 22, 1437 AH, corresponding to February 1, 2016. It will include electrical machines under technical regulation No. (SASO IEC 60034-30: 2013) and will not allow the manufacture or import of any electrical machine that doesn’t hold a certificate for electrical machines registration, issued by SASO. SASO also noted that it has presented, during the workshop, a full explanation for the mechanisms of implementation, control and sanctions prescribed in the event of non-compliance with these specifications.

The organization of such workshops comes as part of the concerted efforts by an integrated national work system, composed of several government and semi-government bodies, in which coordination and organization govern all performance steps under the Saudi Energy Efficiency Program. The Saudi Energy Efficiency Program works to increase energy efficiency activities in buildings, transport and industry sectors through the implementation of several actions and initiatives that contribute to the reduction of the increase in energy consumption in the Kingdom.
