Technical Cooperation
Program Between The Kingdom and Mexico in The Field of Standards and Metrology
SASO
has signed an agreement for technical cooperation with the Mexican Ministry of Economy
( SE), in the presence of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin
Abdulaziz, and His Excellency the President of the United Mexican States
Enrique Peña Nieto. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Tawfiq bin
Fawzan Al Rabiah, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of SASO's Board
of Directors and from the Mexican side, Mr. Ildefonso Villarreal, Minister of
Economy.
For
his part, Dr. Saad bin Othman Al Kasabi Governor of SASO, has commended this
cooperation between the Kingdom and Mexico in the field of standards, metrology and quality. He stressed
that this would strengthen the joint work in the field of standards and the
promotion of trade exchange between the two countries, expressing that the
Kingdom is keen to strengthen cooperation between the Kingdom and Mexico. In
addition, that was to approve further cooperation programs for consumer protection
from goods and products non-confirming to the standards, and to develop the
Kingdom's relations with all the relevant authorities of different areas of
standardization.
Dr.
Al Kasabi has pointed out that the
signing of this program comes within the framework of joint cooperation in various
fields of standardization in order to
develop trade and confirm the quality of imported and exported goods, to
eliminate technical barriers of trade, and to protect consumer safety.
It
is noteworthy that such agreement was on the sidelines of the Mexican
president's visit to the Kingdom, which witnessed the signing of nine
agreements, memoranda of understanding, and technical cooperation program,
between the Governments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Mexican
States, in the presence of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Mexican
President.
