SASO's IT Sector Receives the Middle East Excellence Award

SASO's IT Sector Receives the Middle East Excellence Award
 
 
 
      SASO's Information Technology sector received the Middle East Excellence Award for smart governments and smart cities, in the category of "Smart Governance Excellence in Information and Communication Technology Sector," in a ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre, on the agenda of the 22nd « GCC Smart Government and Smart Cities » Conference. The award was received by Eng. Sultan Abu Khushaim, Governor of SASO Consultant in Information Technology.

      Mr. Abu Khushaim expressed SASO's honor of receiving such an award, which reflects the significant progress achieved in the field of electronic services and transactions at all levels. Moreover, he pointed out that the IT sector completed, during last year only, about 37 technical projects within the strategic plan of SASO to fully shift into e-transactions. These projects included e-services, which involve web portals, internal and external e-services, in addition to infrastructure projects that include projects of information security, networking, audio and visual communication, and information center. Also, they included governance and building capability projects that focus on the application of international practices such as project management as well as development IT staff capabilities and efficiency projects.

      He also noted that electronic solutions, adopted by SASO, contributed significantly to completing transactions to the beneficiaries of SASO services. In addition, they assisted in activating control methods through consumer empowerment, by using Verify application, in direct control over the accuracy of energy efficiency label data and validity of Saudi quality mark.

      Eng. Sultan Abu Khushaim extended his congratulations to His Excellency the Governor of SASO, Dr. Sa'ad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, and all SASO officials and employees of this achievement, stressing that this honor would be a powerful incentive to exert more effort in the coming period.

     Noteworthy, the award vision aims at promoting government and private institutions to improve the quality of information and spread the culture of e-transactions and smart knowledge according to the highest international standards. The award categories cover vital sectors that have been able to achieve tangible achievements over the application of the latest smart technologies and technological systems, that brought real change in the concepts and methods of its transactions with the business sector and citizens, and contributed positively to the growth of the national economy.
