The Kingdom Wins Membership in ISO's Board of Directors



       ​In recognition of the Kingdom's global standing, SASO won the ISO Board of Directors' membership for the period 2018-2020 during the 40th General Assembly meeting, held in Berlin.

       The period preceding the meeting witnessed intense activities by SASO's delegation, which was chaired by HE Dr. Sa'ad bin Othman Al Qasabi, Governor of SASO. A number of meetings were held on the sidelines of the meeting to coordinate cooperation and integration in standardization activities with regional standardization bodies such as the Gulf Standardization Organization, the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization and standardization bodies in sisterly and friendly countries.

       For his part, Governor of SASO, extended his sincere congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense on this occasion. He pointed out that the election of SASO to ISO's Board of Directors is the result of the efforts exerted by SASO to achieve Saudi Arabia's leadership in standardization activities. Furthermore, it affirms the Kingdom's position and its international and regional impact, and reflects the Kingdom's successes at all levels under its wise and motivational leadership. 

       Moreover, Dr. Al-Qasabi said that the 40th session of the ISO General Assembly was held this year under the theme “Open-minded. Open for change”, and covered several topics including; the role of standards in supporting industrial digital transformation, the importance of integration among standardization partners to achieve success in serving beneficiaries, the need to serve the field of sustainability, humanitarian and developmental work, and some other related topics.
