SASO Holds Workshop on Electronic Registration System for Conformity Certificates (Saber) at Jeddah Chamber

 

      SASO has held an introductory workshop on Saber system for electronic registration for conformity certificates, clarifying the registration mechanism in the system and methods of issuing certificates. The workshop was opened with a participation by the Deputy Director General of SASO's Branch, Dr. Tariq Al-Sanee'; Mr. Mazen Kutbi, Assistant Secretary General of Jeddah Chamber; Mr. Sari Al Hussainy, Manager of Saber Project; Mr. Abdullah Al-Arifej, Director of Operation Management at THIQAH Company; and Mr. Abdulrahman Al Majed, Director of Conformity Department, on Sunday 03/03/1440 AH, corresponding to 11/11/2018. The Workshop was attended by a number of traders, suppliers and companies of conformity certificates at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jeddah.

      SASO explained the advantages of Saber system in facilitating the importation of commodities and reducing non-conforming products; the flexibility of the system to issue certificates of conformity; and the role of the system in raising the percentage of the conforming products, which is one of the initiatives of the National Transformation Program 2020. Therefore, a panel discussion was opened, in which all system enquiries were answered.

      ​​​Furthermore, his Excellency Mr. Mutlaq bin Raji Al Tayari, Director General of SASO's Branch in Makkah Province, stressed on the importance of Saber system in providing services to traders and importers to protect their products from fraud and to ensure products safety prior to circulation in the Kingdom's markets. Also, Saber's importance lies in reducing the fraud or manipulation of conformity certificates to achieve commercial justice in the Saudi market.
