Service description

​A platform for classifying and organizing vehicle maintenance centers (auto-repair shop) aimed at raising the quality and safety of the services provided by these centers and raising the level of Beneficiaries ' satisfaction with vehicle maintenance services.

Service cost

1. Financial costs for issuing a one-star rating :
  • Submitting an application (   500 SR)
  • Granting a certificate of classification and licensing using the logo:  (500 SR) /for each certificate
2. Financial costs for issuing a rating of two stars or more :
  • Submitting an order: (500 SR)
  • Studying technical documents (1000 SR) /per day
  • Granting a certificate of classification and licensing using the logo :  (500 SR) /per certificate
Note: All costs are calculated (in Saudi Riyals) for a period of three years.

Service requirments

  • Apply for a classification of the facility through the vehicle maintenance centers classification platform
  • Attach the technical file of the facility, which includes the following:
    • All operating licenses issued by government agencies.
    • An address and a plan showing the location of the facility.
    • Means of communication with the owner or legal representative.
    • A statement of the establishment's employee names.
    • A list of the services provided by the facility.
    • The establishment’s declaration of conformity according to Annex No. (3) of the Regulations for Classifying Vehicles Maintenance and Repair Centers.
  • ​Pay the required fees for classification.

Service steps

  1. SASO  or whoever it delegates from the inspection bodies shall study the technical file and give the facility a notice   with initial approval , in order to complete the evaluation process, or a notification of deficiencies that need to be completed and the time period for that.
  2. The establishment submits a request to one of the bodies accepted by SASO   to conduct the inspection process.
  3. The accepted entity studies the technical file of the facility, and ensures that it complies with the necessary documents,   and the facility must complete the deficiencies - if necessary.
  4. The accepted entity, in coordination with the facility, completes the evaluation process, by inspecting the facility as shown in the annexes of the technical regulation for the classification of vehicle maintenance and repair centers and giving its comments to the facility, and the facility must complete the observations within the prescribed time.
  5. The notified body shall provide    SASO with the result of the conformity assessment and all documents used in the assessment process, including the recommendation to classify the   facility.
  6. SASO issues    the classification certificate based on the report of the accepted body.
  7. The facility installs the classification certificate according to the instructions issued by SASO.
  8. Facility shall abide by the classification criteria and requirements obtained for it throughout the validity period of the certificate.

Note: According to the requirements of the Technical Regulations, the establishments that apply to SASO to obtain one star are exempted from the inspection and evaluation procedures, it is sufficient to register them with    SASO and study their technical file.
