NMCC Receives Visitors to Celebrate World Metrology Day

The National Measurement and Calibration Center (NMCC) received 50 visitors from various national industrial, service and research bodies on Monday, 20 May 2019, on celebration of World Metrology Day, which coincides with the start of working with the new SI system worldwide. The NMCC organized, for the visitors, tours to visit its laboratories and become familiar with metrological standards and national calibration systems in groups. Each group was accompanied by a head of one of the departments of the NMCC who provided a simplified explanation of the achievement of metrological reference at the national level after redefining the kilogram, kelvin, ampere and mole. Moreover, the explanation included the importance of calibration to improve the quality of production, services, environment, public health, safety and Saudi consumer protection. Types of calibration, which the NMCC provides, and followed steps to obtain the service were also explained. The NMCC provided visitors with a collection of publications to introduce the new international system units, the NMCC's laboratories and the services it provides. The NMCC considers this occasion one of the important annual events that provides a great opportunity to communicate with the audience of metrology in various national institutions; listen to their opinions and requests; and strengthen relations with them to serve the national interest.
