"World Accreditation Day 2016"

World Accreditation Day is an international occasion on which national accreditation bodies contribute to highlighting the importance of accreditation and raising
awareness of it as an activity specialized in strengthening the industrial and
economic processes, enhancing the quality of production and upgrading consumer
protection requirements. It is a pleasure that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has
celebrated this occasion along with countries from all over the world, under
the theme "Accreditation: A Global Tool to Support Public Policy".
This occasion coincides with the announcement of the Kingdom to take confident
and ambitious steps towards achieving its vision 2030, through national
transformation programs and initiatives which will be launched soon.
Some benefits
of accreditation are having confidence in certificates issued by laboratories,
inspection bodies and certification bodies, facilitating the flow of goods to
and from international markets, raising the level of quality, as well as
enhancing consumer protection, through certificates and reports issued by
accredited bodies that reflect the conformity of products or services to
nationally adopted standards and specifications.
On this
occasion, it is a pleasure to acknowledge the efforts of the Saudi Accreditation
Committee (SAC) over the past year, as
it was keen to form the nucleus of an
independent accreditation body which shall supervise different accreditation
activities. So far (97) laboratories, specialized in inspection, consumption products, and
measurement and calibration, have been accredited. The Ministry of Commerce and
Investment and the Customs benefit from these accredited laboratories, which
are considered one of the main components of the system of quality in the
Kingdom, in facilitating procedures to get clearance for goods, imported
products and Customs clearance and controlling markets. As a result, this
contributes to the national economy system on the one hand and enhances
consumer protection on the other.
