The Issuance of (239) New Saudi Standards

      The Official Gazette (Umm Al-Qura) published the decision of the board of directors of SASO in its (176) meeting to approve (239) new Saudi standards, to enhance the national industry and open international markets to Saudi products.
      The Official Gazette cleared that SASO have adopted two standard specifications in the chemical and petroleum products sector , in addition to adopting (49) standards, including (41) standards adopted by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and (8) adopted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). (9) standard specifications for paints products were withdrawn and replaced with new standard specifications.
      In the textile products sector, SASO adopted one standard specification, in addition to adopting (8) standards by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
      In the field of electrical and electronic products, the Council approved the amendment of the date of mandatory application of Standard No. (SASO 2938: 2019) “specifications for terrestrial audio broadcast receivers”, so that it is mandatory starting from 01-01-2021 broadcast receivers and on all broadcast receivers. The radio station imported with vehicles starting with the 2024 models, in addition to modifying and withdrawing a number of other standard specifications.
      The new standard specifications included the metrology sector, as Saudi specifications adopted 82 products of this sector, by the International Electrotechnical Organization (IEC). The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) as new optional Saudi Standards, beside updating the standards for metal materials.
      In addition, (5) Saudi standard specifications for construction and building products were withdrawn and replaced with (5) other Saudi standard specifications, and (30) standard specifications were adopted  by The international standard specifications. These include (27) for the quality sector, (3) specifications for the service sector, in addition to (3) standard specifications for the mechanical and metal products sector.
