With Numbers...SASO Expands Granting Conformity Certificates and Quality Mark
In 2018 merely, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) issued 1,361 certificates of conformity, granted 147 licenses for the use of Saudi Quality Mark, and 23,870 licenses for the use of Energy Efficiency Label. The total number of certificates of national recognition corresponding to IECEE Certificates was 3,638 and 997 licenses for the use of Water Consumption Rationalization Label.
The number of applications licensed to use the Saudi Quality Mark on products reached (450) applications, of which (147) new applications were granted licenses to use the Quality Mark during 2018 in addition to (170) under-study applications.
The total number of certificates of conformity issued during 2018 was (1,361). The number included 847 certificates of co nformity for certain consignments, 385 certificates for the use of Biodegradable Logo, 49 certificates of conformity for product's model, 77 certificates for truck barriers manufacturers, 2 certificates for the use of Gulf Conformity Mark, and one certificate of conformity for batch production.
SASO granted (23,870) licenses for the use of the Energy Efficiency Label and Water Rationalization Devices Label. Licenses for the use of both labels included 1,977 for air conditioners, 14,198 for car tires, 1,235 for refrigerators and freezers, 630 for washing machines, 365 for electric motors, 1,848 for lighting products, 550 for large capacity air conditioners, 26 for clothes dryers, 154 for water heaters, and 1,890 for new light vehicles. In addition, SASO granted 997 licenses for the use of Water Consumption Rationalization Label.
SASO explained that it supervises conformity assessment activities in the Kingdom, and grants licenses for the use of Saudi Quality Mark, Energy Efficiency Labels for electrical appliances, in addition to Fuel Economy Labels for new light vehicles and tires. It also grants licenses for the use of Water Consumption Rationalization Labels and Biodegradable Plastic Logo. Moreover, SASO grants certificates of conformity for the model, consignments, and batch production. Furthermore, SASO grants national certificates of recognition corresponding to the IECEE Certificates.
